| This corner plot was generated using the base finesse-ligo LLO model for the MCMC forward model. The prior distributions were centered around the base model's parameter values. Then each parameter was slightly perturbed according to their prior width and this perturbed instance of the model was used to generate a list of detector values. Each detector reading was then perturbed with 1% fractional error to simulate detector/calibration uncertainties.
From the plot, the sampler has a hard time recovering the test mass RoC's however it can recover the PRC mirror positions well. |

|
| Pre-figuring meeting 7/14:
- using the change in surface from annealing, Hiro did some study on HOM scattering/losses from just this surface (shown in the email attachmnent O5testmass.pdf. We together went over these results again.
- ETM11 annealing data to be used: https://dcc.ligo.org/T2600214
- more annealing data: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1E138nNZk5b1yPm0g5jmwv_Z9FD9ArQtnlAk1d_1Ce1U/edit?usp=sharing
- Mostly discussed what to do about this annealing surface change when we are polishing the mirror: The idea now is to polish around it (the polish will include the negative of those surface deformation), but it's better to express it in an analytical form to the manufactuer. We try to explore if it is feasible to represent this surface introduced by annealing as Zernike coefficients
- New ITM meausrement shown as attachment below
- Kevin and Evan will take this surface after annealing as part of their error analysis for their 250mW biased surface profile in the furture, meanwhile I tried to see how will the HOM and PRG conditions change if we don't do anything about this surface, using same analysis we did before:

Tue Jul 21 17:58:36 2026, Pooyan, Update, CDS, Cymac DAQ channel add for long-term recording
|
Changed the sample rate of Cymac ADC channels V3 and VREF6 to 65 kHz for long-time recording. (65536 to be exact)
Here is a how-to for future reference:
- On Cymac, open Matlab and go to the medm model at '/opt/rtcds/usercode/models/c1msc.mdl'
- On the left hand side, there is a DAQ Channel block with text. Any Channel on this list will be recorded to the .gwf frame files as raw data. See alog 592 , and the attached picture.
- I have added all of our current channels to this list, with full sample rate to be recorded, but have commented out the ones that are not in use currently. For future, one can just uncomment the ones that they need to add.
- Make sure that you save the model (by ctrl+S) after making changes
- Complile and install the model following this page.
- Restart the rts services. It's easiest to just restart all via: `sudo systemctl restart rts*`
I have resurrected the automatic backup script for the Cymac files as well. Will start running it in a few days. |

HBT Alignment & First Measurement
HBT setup was aligned for maximum power on the transmissive arm, then the beamsplitter was tilted to equalize the power in each arm. Then, we set the board at
Total power: 0.156 V
Power on each photodetector: 0.078 V
We left the FROSTI on and will collect data overnight. If we need more power, we can cut the breadboard notch further.

|
| Pre-figuring meeting 7/14:
- the non-uniformity brought by annealing for ETM14 and 11 seems to be higher than expected, this meeting focused on discussing about annealing data for ETM014 and 11 : https://dcc-lho.ligo.org/LIGO-T2600213
-we will receive more data for these, since there are some residual power left in the data/plots shown in the meeting because of the reference sphere, and the exact reference sphere radius is unclear
- reviewed the uniformity plot for HR ETM with TiGe coating again: https://dcc-lho.ligo.org/LIGO-T2600277
- not a lot of updates for ring heater: 40W delivered. Currently lock with 1.5W per segment on ETMy at LHO

[Joshua, Mary, Ma, Abhi]
On Wednesday (7/15), the particle count measurement was sufficient, so the FROSTI was transferred into the cleanroom. We unmounted it from the plastic base, and secured it to the optical table. We also transferred the neccessary parts for the HBT setup and began assembly. The breadboard was built first (except for the lenses/beamsplitter) and mounted the the optical posts which will hold it. We placed the beamsplitter as close as possible to FROSTI without touching, and secured the feet.
It is ready for the lenses/beamsplitter to be cleaned and placed in their mounts. Then we will align the setup for maximum power on the transmissive arm.

Weight Calibration: this study looks at how the thermal-compensation system should be tuned as the laser beam moves off-center on a detector mirror, with a fixed point-absorber defect in place. The optimizer that sets the actuator powers tries to flatten the wavefront, and it balances two kinds of distortion( i.e. surface distortion against substrate optical-path distortion) by a ratio that had been fixed at 20:1, but that value was only validated for a centered beam. So here I sweeps this ratio across beam positions from 0–5 cm along +x, with and without the absorber, re-optimizing the actuator powers at each position and judging each choice by the resulting power recycling gain from the fully locked interferometer.

[Sidd, Pooyan, Dhatri] In the group meeting on 04/23/26, we discussed with Jon why we weren’t getting expected values for PRC Gain while running the current LLO model; specifically if there is mode mismatch. Worked more on this today.
- Looked at the mode mismatch using cavity_mismatch_table().
- Compared these finesse_ligo factory model mismatch values with those of the aLIGO katscript model.
- The latter does not have the cavity_mismatch_table(), looked at both models' mismatch values using cavity_mismatch().
- Ascertained that there is less mode mismatch in the katscript model (~10^-2) as compared to the factory model (~10^-6).
- Mismatch values are starkly different, not just for (PRC, XARM) but also for others like (OMC, XARM).
Is the issue with the locking procedure?
- Analysed the locking process for factory model and katscript model to find minor differences in the order.
- Tried applying the katscript locking function to the factory model and still seem to get the same results. (to recheck)
Further directions/steps:
- To compare radii of curvature of the optics in both models
- Check q parameter at PRM and assign it to the laser to run the model
- Generate powerup plots again and check against previous ones (with and without ring heater)

The electrical wiring diagram of the cleanroom is on page (1) of the attached file.
- Blue lines are protected by the lab UPS, and power the power strips attached to the frame of the optical tables. The same power strips feed the frame lights and the vacuum system.
- Red lines are connected to the red outlet on the celling cable tray, presumabaly connected to the building's backup system. The feed everything on the ceiling of the cleanroom by first going through two switches attached to the frame of the clean room. Each outlet feeds two fans and one ceiling lamp via power strips sitting on top of the cleanroom ceiling. (see pictures on page (2))
We will need two sets of conduits feeding cables into the cleanroom, possibly secured on the legs of the cleanroom frame and going through the ceiling tile.
- The eastern conduit will have all of the connection/control/CyMAC cables, and two power cables. (See page (3))
- The western conduit will have two power cables, and the table's air feeder.
- I suggest that each conduit be either a two inch wide, or two one inch wide coduits. Anything less than one inch wide will not be able to contain the current batch of chables.
Page 4 is a possible cartoon of where we want to install the conduits. We can have electric boxes either on the both sides of the conduit, or just on one side. |

[Pooyan, Ma, Mary, Tyler]
While re-installing the clean-room HEPA fan filters, we realized that one of the blowers is broken. The issue seems to be that the plastic damper bracket that is keeping the blower in place has failed. The fix is to open up the fan unit, and replace the broken vibration damper. We installed the defected unit on top of the clean room entrance, for easy future access. |

Vacuum Pressure Warning Script
Script Location: controls@chimay
Script Path: /vac/python/serial/temp_vacuum_warning.py
Purpose
Implement an automated warning system that monitors vacuum pressure and sends
email alerts when pressure thresholds are exceeded.
Implementation Details
-
The script runs
launcher.py (located in the same directory)
every 30 minutes to retrieve the latest vacuum pressure reading.
-
If the pressure rises above the critical threshold
(≥ 1 × 10-6 Torr), an email alert will be sent
to all group members.
-
If the pressure rises above the warning threshold
(≥ 1 × 10-7 Torr), an email alert will be sent
to Xuesi Ma.
-
If
launcher.py fails to retrieve the vacuum pressure,
or if any execution error occurs, an error notification email
will be sent to Xuesi Ma.
How to Run
python temp_vacuum_warning.py
Note
An app password is required for authentication in order to send alert emails.

|
| After some tests, I have determined that the squeezer in the aLIGO katscript is currently being matched to the SRC. This logic will cause issues if the SRC mode is perturbed and no longer closely matched to arm modes. Currently, my modification to the code involves taking the arm mode incident at the ITM and propagate the beam parameter using the ABCD matrix from the ITM to the injected squeezing port. Rerunning some of the squeezing simulations for a cold interferometer, it appears the toroidal case remains the same but the nominal mirror case degrades. Is this expected when we match to the arm instead of the SRC? |

We suspect a pressure gauge problem. The electronic unit of the main chamber pressure gauge and the electronic unit of the RGA chamber pressure gauge are swapped.
Power and current draw aren't high for the turbo pump.
Before opening the gate valve, the pressure in the Main chamber is 2.98e-8 Torr, RGA Chamber 1.21e-5 Torr
After opening the gate valve (not fully open), the pressure in the Main chamber is 2.97e-8 Torr, RGA Chamber 1.55e-9 Torr. Note: the HV sensor suddenly turned on and the reading jumped to -9 Torr
Opening the gate valve a bit more, the pressure in the Main chamber is 2.98e-8 Torr, RGA Chamber 1.34e-9 Torr.
After switching the electronic unit, the pressure in the Main chamber is 3.23e-8 Torr, RGA Chamber 1.43e-9 Torr.

|
| I've run a few plots of observed squeezing in the LIGO interferometer to fully ensure that the point we have selected is the optimal point for squeezing. Contrary to what I expected, there seems to be much more degenerate "optimal" configurations. While the toroidal case may be near optimal, it seems that the solution we found for a non astigmatic beam is not the only one. I will further explore this space to find more optimal/tolerant positions, which I see evidence of.
Additionally, as observed squeezing is computational expensive to compute, I found that the difference in round-trip gouy phase accumulation between the x and y planes is a good approximation for an optimal squeezing state, which I believe makes physical sense. This may be helpful to quickly compute other optimal conditions. |

- Installing the terminal streaming client
- Debugging formatting and file saving issues by saving the data in a TDMS file on the host PC.
We have started streaming the ADC data on Monday from both boards for 2 days, which are currently in the clean room. Below are the ADC tests we performed before starting the 2-day run. (Time in ms) |

Yesterday, Ma and I started taking data for the PSD/CSD measurements while the photodetectors and one of the heater elements are on (8) and are using the Red Pitaya to compare it to the data we took for the same measurements on the CyMAC. It will be finished Wednesday morning, and then we plan on starting to take additional recordings in order to conduct the same type of comparison for the dark noise measurements. |
Mon Jul 14 23:50:22 2025, Tyler, Update, , Cymac ADC update
|
I've been looking into the performances of individual channels on the Cymac by computing their individual PSDs and corresponding CSDs that show their noise relation to each other. It appears some channels do have lower noise floors than others, and some combinations of these actually do perform similar to the Red Pitaya (showing below the CSD between CHs 3 and 5), although it doesn't look like it's much of an improvement. The best method as of now still appears to be phase-locking two separate ADCs to reduce the correlated noise floor further.
This can be further discussed at the July 22, 2025 group meeting. |
Mon Jul 14 20:45:20 2025, Luke , Summary, Cleanroom, HEPA filter performance metrics
|
[Luke, Luis]
We’ve been looking into methods for evaluating the performance of the HEPA filters in the clean room. Measuring flow rate appears to be a promising approach, since the filter manual specifies a recommended minimum of 70 ft/min.
At the moment, we don’t have a flow rate measurement device on hand. We're currently looking into two options:
- A standard vane-style anemometer, which is more affordable but may lack sensitivity near the minimum required flow rate.
- A hot-wire anemometer, which offers better resolution and accuracy at lower speeds, though it's more expensive.
In the next few days, either Luis or I will contact Terra Universal to see if they have any measurement solutions that would integrate well with our clean room setup, or if they can recommend best practices for verifying HEPA performance. |

Finished external reconstruction of the FROSTI by installing all the pins to the 2 DB 25 connectors. We then vacuumed outside, before wiping down the inside of the cleanroom. We then vacuumed, mopped, and wiped down the floor inside the cleanroom.
We are ready for venting the vacuum chamber which is planned to take place 6/26/25 at 10am.

Supporting Graphs
Attached below are the resistance-time graphs for all heater elements:
- Complete test duration graph
- Pre-switch period graph
- Post-switch period graph
- Resistance voltage graph after removing data from after power outage
Analysis & Conclusion
The switch did not physically change the resistance of the heater elements, suggesting the measurements reflect their true resistances.

| Below are results from power spectra measurements of the CyMAC ADC, computed form 30 hours of time series data, compared to the performance of the Red Pitaya. The frequency resolution for the initial Cymac CSD is 2 Hz, and 216,000 spectra measurements are averaged together. As of now, it still looks like we haven't reached the correlated noise floor of the CyMAC. We have a few days worth of data to take from, so I'll look into using a longer period of time. |
